I think everyone knows this family name “Shinawat” and everyone knows Khunying Potjaman Shinawat. She is a wife of the old Prime minister “Mr. Taksin Shinawat”
Back to the government of Mr. Taksin Shinawat, Khunying Potjaman was called that
she was a woman that have the most power in the Thai political. She helped her husband in everything, such as the case that Mr. Taksin Shinawat hided his share. That time Mr. Taksin was a Prime minister and Khunying Potjaman helped him until the judge said he was passed the case and he can continue his work.
But now everything is change. Khunying Potjaman and her husband are in many charges. Such as, the case that they guilty of tax evasion. The Criminal Court on last Tuesday found that Khunying Potjaman and his brother guilty of tax evasion, and sentenced both Khunying Potjaman and her brother Bannapot Damapong to three years in prison as an example. And Khunying Potjaman’s secretary Karnchana Honghern were all found guilty of tax evasion in the transfer of Shinawatra Computer and Communication shares worth 738 million baht in 1997. Mrs Karnchana was given a two-year prison term for her lesser role in the case. I think in this case, they have a big company and their have many profits. I think if they pay the tax, everything will be better than now. The trial of Ratchadaphisek land case. Mr Taksin and his wife are facing trial over Khunying Potjaman's purchase of 33 rai of land in the Ratchadapisek area from the Financial Institutions Development Fund under the Bank of Thailand. Both have denied charges of wrongdoing. Mr Taksin was accused of abusing his position as prime minister by helping his wife get a heavy discount for the land purchase. The prosecution claimed the 772 million baht they paid for the land was far lower than the market price. Now they go to London and no one knows when they will come back. Now a day, in Thailand there have many problem but I think we can help our country to decrease the problem by do the best with our job to develop our country and do not break the law.
